Sh'ma Yisrael was founded out of the old Israelite school called B'Nai Zaken, and was shaped into a progressive place of worship in Brooklyn New York. The Kenisit started in Lincoln Terrace park in June of 1994, off Eastern Parkway, and moved to a member's basement in the winter of the same year. After a few months of searching we came across a building which needed some major repairs. With the help and strength from the Almighty, within a few months the building was ready and open for worship. Today the Kenisit houses over 200 supporting members, most of whom have been from the beginning 6 year prior.
